Influence Matters

Self-paced e-learning at its best!

What great tools I now have to use in my influencing skills going forward! The short video clips for each topic, the case studies and articles, and the WebEx meetings with breakouts all contributed to a higher level of learning for me. It was one of the best programs I have been through. I will continue to refer this program to my colleagues, and look forward to participating in another program in the future. Cindy Olsen, Sr. HR Director, Concur, Redmond, WA

Attend from anywhere in the world!  Influence Matters is for leaders who intend to be more strategic about influencing the right people, in the right way, at the right time. From getting people on board and motivated, to knowing how best to get proposals approved, to being selected for choice assignments, to getting the green light for projects and resources needed, this webinar series gives leaders what they need to be as influential as they need to be - anytime, anywhere.

Interactive Webinars

Get the feel of being in a live room.  There are 5, 1.5-hour interactive webinars, plus a 10-minute pre-recorded program introduction. We use Cisco's WebEx advanced training webinar tool. The presenter is "live" on screen as are any materials that are being discussed in the moment. Participants can be put into small break out groups at any time during the webinar to discuss cases and content, then come back to the large group and report out. The presenter can "visit" each of these "rooms" just as if everyone was in a live presentation. Participants can be unmuted for the main call discussions as well for live Q&A. Leaders can be in any part of the world and feel like they're all in the same room. The webinar leader combines short presentations with in-depth group discussion of application of the learning from content and cases, with interactive exercises, and discussion of application to the leaders' influence situations.

Self-Paced e-Learning

Learn how to be a top-notch influencer in just 10 minutes a day!  Our self-paced e-learning jump starts leaders' real-time application of their influence skills and is a big value-add to the live webinar sessions. With our e-learning, leaders learn when they choose, for however long they want, and at a time that fits with their busy work schedule.

How that's done:  In between each webinar session, leaders link to our site for the e-learning modules. In each e-learning session, an expert coach and facilitator takes leaders through the 31 short video tracks that bring each of the program days' content to life. Each of the 31 days has downloadable program materials, cases, checklists and, if applicable, 1 or 2 electronic worksheets. To enhance learning, the leader can jump ahead, or review an already-covered module if a specific influence challenge comes up where the content in a module is needed for the success of that interaction.

What Leaders Learn

There are 3 skill mastery areas -- Master Your Plan, Master Your Delivery, and Master YourSelf -- that fully equip the leader for any influence situation. Plus there are the Getting Started materials in Days 1-3 that include articles on power and politics, an influence assessment and an process for designing the leader's influence program goal. And although the modules in the 3 skill mastery areas follow in a specific order, leaders can jump ahead or go back and revisit material at any time when an influence situation calls for it.

Peer Consulting

Learn with a peer or two. We strongly suggest that leaders meet in pairs or trios 2 or 3 times over the course of the webinar series for about an hour by phone (or in person if they're in the same location) to talk about application to their own situations.  Leaders find these peer meetings to be invaluable.

Cases

We supplement the learning throughout the program with case studies of real situations.  We add company-specific cases when we offer this program in your organization.

Optional Individual Coaching

Get better faster with individual coaching sessions. Whatever the challenge, leaders having their own coach helps them figure out the best approach for them in whatever influence situations they're in. That's why when attending one of our 31-Day Series webinars we offer a reduced-fee coaching package of 3 one-hour sessions in addition to the webinar fee. Leaders can choose to add a coaching package before or after the program start.

Program Dates and Times

The program covers 5, 1.5-hour webinars over 5 weeks. Webinars are scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Pacific on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Final days and times are chosen to suit the sponsoring organization. We record every webinar. If leaders miss a session, they won't miss the content.
